So upon completion of my Security “G” license I needed a 9mm with some carry capability as my Taurus PT92AF is just too big and shiny. I’ve carried a Glock model 27 in .40SW for years now as my choice for concealed carry and I have enjoyed my experience with it very much. But I needed a 9mm for my duty gun and decided to pick up the Glock model 19 (G19). The Glock 19 is the compact model compared to the model 17, but not as small as the model 26.
With 15+1 down the magazine there should be no lack of lead down range should this unfortunate need arise, plus the pistol came with two mags so that would be 31 total down range. The first time I shot the G19, was the second round of my qualification for my Security “G” and I must say I was very impressed but not surprised at the ease of use this firearm has to offer. The recoil is easy to manage and the sight alignment/sight picture is very doable with the stock sights as with all Glocks. The trigger pull is a slight heavy but again very doable.
I went to see my friends at http://www.familyfirearms.net/ in Brandon FL on my way home from the qualify to see if Marco had one in stock. He was packing up the shop for a Gun Show in Lakeland that weekend but had a couple of them to choose from. I thought to myself this is scary because his parking lot has my bank in it. Called the wife to get the P.O. OK’d (this is very important guys!!!) and got the green light on the purchase. This was on a Friday.
One of my students had called me and asked if I would go along with him to give him some shooting pointers on Sunday so I got to give my G19 it’s first test spin. Again I was very impressed by the ease of use with this firearm. I was able to shoot accurately out to 25 yards! Yes I typed yards! I paired this firearm with a Fobus roto-holster model BR2TRPL, and it carries quite comfortable and close to the body. The G19 is light to carry due to it’s polymer frame. After a while I didn’t even feel it on my side.

I truly believe that Glock Safe Action pistols might just be one of the toughest and greatest pistols designed. But don’t just take my word on it. Get out there and shoot one today. Feel free to leave your comments below.
